GHID presents: Looking for the best medical interpreting training in the southwest?
MEDICAL INSTITUTE WORKSHOP
APRIL 14 and 15
Registration is now open. Visit the Professional Development page for more details.
Did you miss the Spring Break Social?
We had light attendance, but a great time at 13 Celsius, a wine bar in mid-town Houston on Friday, March 16. If you missed this event, watch this space and our Facebook page for news of the end-of-the-semester event in May. Interpreting is more than just work. Come out and socialize with your coworkers and students.

Let Us Challenge Your Skills - LUCYS is GHID's new professional development division designed for working interpreters, both certified and pre-certified. Named in honor of one of our beloved charter members, Lucille Allen McAlister, these development groups will be formed throughout the Houston area and work on vocabulary, conceptualization, register, expansion, mind mapping, ASL vs. CASE, and other topics. We are seeking facilitators who can dedicate one night per month to working with colleagues and peers to enhance and hone their skills. Email our Professional Development Coordinator, Jo Westbury, if you are interested in facilitating a LUCYS group or would like to help form a group in your area of town.
SO YOU NEED TO HIRE AN INTERPRETER? You may check with the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) or with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). Both groups maintain a list of service providers.
