We are always exploring new ideas for development, networking, and social events to bring Interpreters in Houston and the surrounding areas together. The following is a list of potential events that are still in the planning stages. Check back often as this list will be changed and updated.

• GHID is already working on its Spring 2009 professional development slate, which will include a workshop on religious interpreting.
• The GHID Board is planning an exciting new collaboration with Houston Interpreters and Translators Association (HITA). Stay tuned for more details.

if you have ideas for workshop topics, social events, or networking opportunities, please email the Professional Development Committee. Include your name, contact information and description of your idea. Please tell us, too, if you are willing to volunteer or help organize a workshop or event. You do not have to make a long-term commitment. You may only wish to work on a single event or help with a specific workshop. We welcome your contribution. Your involvement with GHID will strengthen your own network within the community and the interpreting profession and it will make the organization stronger.
